Jalandhar: Dr. Sandeep Vij has joined as the new Director-cum-Principal of DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology (DAVIET), Jalandhar. With his rich experience in academia, corporate leadership, strategic management, industry engagement and institutional development, his appointment is expected to provide fresh impetus to the academic and overall growth of DAVIET.

On assuming charge, Dr.Vij was warmly welcomed by Dr.Jagjit Malhotra, Officiating Principal, Dr. Sudhir Sharma, Dr.Neeru Malhotra, Dr. Anil Soni, Dr. Ramandeep Singh Johal and Dr. Vinay Chopra, along with other Heads of Departments (HoDs), Heads of Centres/Departments (HCDs), faculty members and staff of the institution.

The appointment assumes significance in view of Dr.Vij’s extensive multidisciplinary experience and his demonstrated ability to connect academic excellence with industry requirements, innovation and strategic institutional development. Dr. Sandeep Vij is a distinguished strategic business leader, academician and consultant with over 28 years of multidisciplinary experience spanning corporate leadership, business turnaround, strategy consulting, entrepreneurship development and higher education. He has served in several significant academic and institutional leadership roles at DAV University, Jalandhar, including Head of Commerce, Business Management & Economics, Head of the Consultancy Cell, President of the Institution’s Innovation Council and Nodal Officer–Industry Relations Cell. His professional journey also includes serving as Executive Director at Ashoka Dyeing & Finishing Mills Pvt. Ltd., where he led a successful business turnaround, and as Deputy Dean–Management at Lovely Professional University, where he contributed to curriculum development and business incubation initiatives. An accomplished researcher and academician, Dr.Vij has authored more than 45 research publications in ABDC- and Scopus-indexed journals and three books on strategy, competitive advantage and digital-era management. He has guided doctoral research, delivered invited and plenary lectures at national and international forums, and received recognition including awards for excellence in Business Strategy and Commerce Studies.

Articulating his long-term vision for DAVIET, Dr.Vij stated that his endeavour would be to develop the institution as a unique and distinct centre of excellence for engineering, management, computer applications and other professional programmes. He emphasised that academic rigour and quality education would remain at the core of the institution’s growth and development. Faculty development, he said, would be a prime focus, with sustained efforts towards empowering faculty members and creating an environment conducive to professional and academic growth. He also stressed the importance of enhancing the happiness index of faculty, staff and students by fostering a positive, supportive and fulfilling institutional environment. At the same time, he underlined the need for the holistic and complete development of students, enabling them to acquire not only professional competence but also confidence, values, creativity, leadership qualities and a sense of responsibility.

With Dr. Sandeep Vij assuming the leadership of DAVIET, the institution looks forward to a new phase of academic advancement, innovation, professional excellence and institutional development.
